Did you have a great 4th of July? I knew I did. :)  We went to see fireworks in a rainy and lightning night. It was pretty to see both fireworks and lightning at the same time. How about you?

In the past weekend I spent most of the time doing cleaning, cooking, and cleaning! LOL well.. not quite that bad, I spent some time to design and paint plastic eyes too.  Here are what I have painted. What do you think?

I crocheted these chains of hearts a while back. The pattern is from Pepika.com. She provided a bunch of cute free patterns. This pattern is called " Crochet 3D Heart ". The yarn I used is called " Caron Simply Soft Brites Yarn ". This particular yarn is very soft, so when I put the stuffing into the hearts, I have to put a lot in order to keep the heart shape. Other than that, the yarn is pretty good for crocheting, it doesn't split much, and the colors are just as beautiful as it can be. If you are a crochet beginner, this is definitely a very nice and easy project for you, try it, you won't regret! :)

I actually got some problems in my family that I have to deal with, after that, my energy of writing just not there! My younger daughter got breathing problem and went in and out of the hospital a few times these 2 months. We have been sick worrying about her. In the mean time we are not feeling well too. Fortunately we all feel better and I even have a little time to finish a amigurumi swap! Nice! =)

I haven't been crochet for the last few months and I really want to get back into it. Crochet keeps me SANE! LOL With 2 girls yelling, screaming, dancing, smiling, having fun, destroying the whole house, picking up toys, cooking, selling in Etsy, I am happy that doing crochet is the one that keeps me happy and peace in mind! Don't you have that feeling? LOL

Last few weeks I have joined an amigurumi swap. Each person has to crochet 2 amis. I know my partner like undersea critter, but I am not a very good listener, I chose to crochet Miss Piggy. I like her because personally I think she is cute! I am thinking to crochet more for her later. I have so many projects in mind, geez... 24 hours just not enough! I also crochet a little ghost. I saw that one day in my email from Lion Brand yarn and I thought this could be a little something that she might enjoy! =)

The necklace brown bead is from Nspire.etsy.com. Safety Eyes I use 7.5mm clear eyes on little ghost, and 8mm black eyes on Miss Piggy. I think Miss Piggy is about 1 ft long. I hope my partner really like it. Here is the picture of what I have sent to her.

I got a swap a few days ago from Netherlands! Hurrah! I love eggs and my swapper found that out! :) Can you see I got a knitted eggs, some dark chocolate which is my fav!! A toy for my kids and also egg warmer! Very throughful swap! ♥ I love the goodies! ♥ Thanks Anna!!

Below is the crochet goodies I sent to her. I hope she will like it too! =) I didn't take all the goodies in whole but only the one I handmade! I made 2 fish-shaped like tawashi / dish clothes, 2 coasters (patterns also from a tawashi design), a decor that I combined from a coffee cup and donut! What do you think? :)

Last night was dreadful, I mentioned it in last blog. However, at the night time, after my kids went to bed, I finally had my very own time, guess I was gonna do? haha.. that's right, more crochet!!! Yarns and crochet keeps me sane! When I am crocheting I forget most of the unhappy stuff in daily life and focus on the pattern and the yarn and the hook that I am handling, it's so relaxing!~ I made several more motifs last night, it's kinda fun! I think I like to make more of these flowers instead of some more amigurumi, I guess it's because I don't have to sew the parts up! :P


These patterns are from a book called "201 crochet motifs, blocks, projects and ideas" by "Melody Griffiths". I think the book is pretty good, the flowers, motifs and projects are beautiful. If you like to crochet flowers, you may consider to get this book.

I always feel terrible in the middle of the week, especially today it's gray and rainy outside. Yes, I don't like rain very often, there is always a lonesome feelings to go with it.

With a day like this, I will choose to crochet something or anything to make the day pass by even faster than normal days, like Monday! LOL

To crochet a motif, it won't take long, 15-20 minutes you will have one beautiful flower! I haven't decided how to use these, may be on a hat, or may be just like a decor or bookmark. Anyway I am happy to see crochet flowers anywhere in my house.

I got inspired in doctor office when I was waiting for my girl to have well-check up! Yes, you didn't read wrong, it's in doctor office, they have so many children books, body pictures and many other things that inspired me to create my hand-painted eyes. This time I have frog/toad eyes, they are 21mm wide!! I also have 24mm pearl yellow and pearl orange eyes. Last one is the 18mm Spin eyes. You know what I was thinking when I was painting these? I was thinking my fan. I can't wait for the summer time to come! It's wet and yucky these days. My hubby looked at these eyes and he spin them in front of me, he was pretending magician to hypnotize me!! It's fun! =)

Last night I created this design on my 21mm eyes! I really like this! I put it up this morning (Sat) and it is sold within a few minutes! I was jumping up and down in the kitchen telling my hubby about that. I know, it's crazy! I haven't been jumping like this for a long time, you know, I am getting old and can't do this very often! LOL This pair of hand painted eyes are painted with pearl black and pearl red colors, with shimmer effect. Middle part is solid black. Thoughts - I designed this not just only for Valentine's Day. When we make our soft toys, it's filled with love and hard work. Eyes are always the soul of a critter, I think not only the critter itself can show the love, but also the eyes, it's telling the person who receive the soft toys that the creator is truly putting her/his heart into it. A few days ago I saw a pattern from Lion Brand website. I was really interested in it. My daughter Katie did too, so picked up my crochet hook again to crochet another amigurumi! I can't help it, it's too much fun! I have tons of Caron Simply Soft Brites yarns, I picked up black and mango (like orange) and started my new project. It didn't take long for me to crochet all the parts but it took me forever to sew them up. This is the worst part of amis. This morning I really got into mood in painting something! Good thing is I don't have my kids around me, they are all sleeping! Yeah! This early morning was gray, cold, and very unhappy kind of feelings! However, because I was in mood, I decided to paint my eyes a little special. I have these transparent red eyes and I knew that they are kind of scary looking, so I am thinking to paint them into lovely looking instead. After all, they are not very scary, but definitely beautiful! I love the pearl effect in this eyes. Am I like a crow only like shiny and shimmering things? :P Anyway, here they are. I crochet this with Malabrigo Yarn Merino Worsted, I really like it, it's really forgiving, very smooth and soft. The color is quite beautiful, it's variegated slightly and very subtle. I made this scarf for my hubby's little cousin! He is a 7 years old RedSkins's fan! Before Christmas I asked him, what do you like for Christmas! He said " I wanted a scarf with burgundy and gold! I at once knew what he wanted. I have heard about burgundy and gold 1000 times since I married to this family! LOL Yes, my hubby is a RedSkins's fan too! Anyway, once I got the hint, I at once started at that night, fortunately a kid's scarf wouldn't take long to crochet, 4 hours later, wola! A burgundy and gold scarf is born! (silly me)

It's getting cold here in So. Md. I have started the process to put away summer clothing and take out the winter clothing. I have finished it in my daughter's wardrobe! Oh Boy! I can't believe 2 little persons have so many clothing!! Anyway, because of all these cleanings around the house, I found my yarns which are hidden in the closet. These stash yarns have been there for half year and I started to search a pattern that is easy to crochet and only eat up 2 skeins of yarns. After all, I think scarf or hat is the only option I have! So I picked up the 6mm hook and once again, sitting in front of the TV, have a cup of green tea, like an old lady, start crocheting! lol.. yes, i feel old :P I love this pattern by Khebhin Gibbons, at first, I don't familiar with the writing, it's a little bit confusing. That's why I tried to use my stash cotton yarn to try it first, after a while, I have a better idea of what the pattern works, then I changed back to my wool/cotton mixed yarn and the result is fabulous! I wasn't using the greatest yarn in the world, these only some yarns I picked up in JoAnn, however, it did give me what I want, a warmy, elegant and beautiful scarf! After I finished this scarf, now I want to make more scarf for my families as Christmas present, yes, it's that time of year again, I need to think, think, think what to make/buy/crochet for my families! Last weekend I have been trying to create something cute, of course, with my talent, you can see the picture, what you see is what you get, I am not very good at it!! hahahahahaha! I tried to crochet something with a piece of tofu in my mind, however, after I finished crochet it, it looked like a tofu with a hat, or a white pottery, so I named this little guy Tofu master~! I think I am just too hungry for some Chinese Tofu which used to wrapped by a piece of white cloth, the tofu texture is so smooth, heat it up by steaming it in a wok, add a bit of cooking oil, light soy sauce and a few slices of gingers, yummy. That's how my mom used to cook it! It's so nice! Wait a minute, I shouldn't talk about food here, but I can't help it!!!! By the way, the blue comical eyes is a new stock I am going to put in my store! It's 8mm blue comical eyes! :) They are just the cutest thing!

Since I sell safety / plastic eyes in Etsy, I have always fond with pearl color eyes. I think the shiny, shimmer looking eyes do give a soul to the amigurumi I make. It looks more real than ordinary solid color eyes. However, I can't find many pearl colors out there in wholesale or retails, normally I can only find pearl green, pearl gold, and pearl blue. Because I hand-painted the eyes, I can offer many more colors in my store. I am so excited. This is my very first time offer this hand-painted pearl eyes sampler. Colors include Pearl Red, Pearl Copper, Pearl Periwinkle, Pearl Purple and Pearl Forest Green. I offter this set with the other commercial pearl eyes together. I hope you and my customers will like it! :)

This year County Fair I took some of my amis and also my gray honey bunny to the exhibit contest and my amis has won some prizes. I am so happy! Miss Idea got honor, orange octopus got 2nd prize, and honey bunny got 1st premium prize. I need to work harder so that I will have amis for next year contest! :)

Recently I didn't post a lot of blogs, I am so lazy (1st reason), and I am so into crocheting amis (2nd reason), I couldn't stop!! LOL Now, I am going to post some pictures of what I have been making! :) This is Miss Idea, she is a lightbulb. I got his pattern from amigurumiparadise.etsy.com. The pattern's name is "4 tiny amis". I just love this little lightbulb lady, she is helping me a lot to come up with new ideas! :) The little beauty I used "Caron Simply Soft BRITES" and a pair of 7.5mm clear eyes from my store! They look lovely, right? Now this coffe cup is from the same pattern, although this coffee cup is more like an expresso or dark chocolate, but deep inside, he loves coffee! :P This coffee cup I have used some stash baby yarns which I don't remember the name already, 2 pieces of pink square felt, a heart button and a pair of 7.5 mm beige eyes. This little white horse is from a pattern named "floppy friends" from kristieskids.etsy.com, I love her animal friends, they are so cute! I have made the frog, and this horse, I think I need to crochet more animal, they look so lonely by themselves! :p This horse I have used Red Heart solid white yarn, stash yarn for the mane, and a pair of 12mm pearl blue eyes. Since I joined Ravelry.com, I have been participated in a lot of SWAP activities. I love them. I can meet people in the country or outside the country. Also, I can receive surprised gifts, I am just as happy as I can be! This time, the SWAP is about "HEART", the theme is just crochet or knit a heart to somebody. I love it. So I have made this chain of hearts to my partners and I hope they will like it!

In the past few days I crochet this octopus! The pattern is from Lion Brand, click here! I used Caron Simply Soft Brites - Mango (colorway) to make the body, and use Rubine Red to stitch the mouth and all these suckers. My DH called this little guy ANCE Octopus! LOL! I have also used a pair of 9mm yellow eyes here. I think it matches the body color very well and it looks great! The only problem I have when I am making this little guy is after I crochet everything, trying to put the legs onto the body, it doesn't have enough space under the torso to put all 8 legs together! I have to force the last one into its place and overlap with the other leg a little bit! :p

I just got this cotton yarn (Lion Brand Cotton Ease) and I thought I would give it a try to make a Beret! This yarn is not easy to work with, it splitting quite a lot, however I like the color, finally the hat came out pretty good! Beret is a little bigger than I thought, next time I will use a smaller yarn and try that again! This hat took me about 5 hours to do it, I know, I am a slow crocheter! :)
